Chardonnay 2021

Chardonnay 2021

100% Oregon Chardonnay

Once again we partake of Oregon’s forbidden fruits for this wonderful Chardonnay! The fruit is sourced from an Owen Roe managed vineyard in the Chehalem Mountains and chosen for it’s Burgundian qualities. The juice was pressed to a settling tank, brought to Seattle, fermented sur lie in a one-fill Burgundy barrel, transferred to stainless steel after four months in barrel, and bottled one year from harvest. The wine sits at 0.6 g/l residual sugar (nearly bone dry), 7 g/l acidity, pH of 3.2 at an alcohol of 13.2%.

We set out to make as Burgundian a Chardonnay as possible and are delighted with the results. The nose leads with seashell-y minerals, flinty reduction and hints of citrus fruits. The palate reflects these aromas and continues with citrus blossom, steely resolve caressed with texture from malic completion. The finish is long, intense and lingering. In character this Chardonnay lands in the Meursault-Puligny neighborhood. Except for its Oregon accent it would never be thought of as an outsider!  25 cases produced
